Seamaster De Ville (166.020SP / 565) - replacing pendant tube myself

Thanks for the responses to my previous post re the ordering of crown, stem and tube.

I'm wondering if I can fit the tube myself, by carefully tapping the stem in using something like a nylon mallet, without removing the crystal and movement?

I see that there's a step in the rim of the narrower end of the tube, so I'm wondering if it's not possible to line it up correctly without removing the crystal and movement.

Cheers, Michael

Better to remove the movement from the case when doping this. You need to line the step on the back so is it flat...it will be obvious once you open the case. Case tubes that are press fitted are generally fitted with Loctite retaining compound also - 638 is what Omega recommends.
