Hello, I’ve just found this Omega Seamaster. Looking at the strap markings it’s dated 1/65, would that be the rough age of the watch.
Many thanks.

Maybe start with some humor to lighten the mood, tell her about yourself but don’t overtake the conversation. Listen to her often and just enjoy yourself. Oh, and def pay for the meal afterwards. Good luck and let us know how it goes!

I told her I was thinking of joining an Omega watch forum, her eyes rolled back, she got up and left…did I say something wrong?

Advice for dating that true Seamaster 😉:

1. The Boat Comes First: Accept that the boat is like a second member of the relationship. It has a name, it has feelings, and it always needs a new part.

2. Weather Talk: You will spend a lot of time looking at the sky. If it’s sunny, you’re on the water. If it’s rainy, you’re talking about being on the water.

3. Gifts are Easy: Don't buy them fancy clothes. Buy them a waterproof bag or a really good hat that won't blow away in the wind.

4. Learn the Words: You don't have to be an expert, but knowing that the "kitchen" is the "galley" will make them smile.

The watch could be mid-60s, but one can't date a watch by the bracelet because they were not produced together, even if originally sold together. And there's also no way to know that they were originally sold together. You will need to have the watch opened to see the serial number on the movement if it's important for you to know the approximate year of production.

I suppose that the lumed hands are replacements.

Why such things never happen to me??? 😜

Looks more like 50s to me... Can you open the caseback or post a picture of it?

If you own a boat, save yourself a lot of agro..just stand in a shower and tear up £20 notes!

For everyone’s info, as and ex ferry skipper and RNLI crew member I think I’ve got the ‘Seamaster’ angle covered…😂

It was in a box of ‘stuff’ belonging to a relative that passed on.
I don’t have the courage to prise the back off..so will have to take it to a specialist I guess.
It’s working perfectly and keeping time.
Thanks for your advice.

Hi Dan…Thank you for your input. I was curious to its age, and the date on the strap..another member has mentioned that theres no correlation between the strap date and the watch; so I’ll find out more when I find someone to service it for me. Thank you again.

It is definitely a 1960s watch, though.

Thank you Dan..I’ve spoken to the local Omega agent in Bournemouth and they said they’d open it up for me as a curtesy .

Dan Chronometre AFAIK wasn’t spelled the French way in the 60s so that can’t be so to my mind. The dial at least and most probably the entire watch are 1950s.

Looks like a chronometer version of the 2846. Not sure if that had a different ref. Probably but it’s no later than 1959 IMO
