Seamaster date vs the no date.

I for one are on the niche WIS and prefer my watches with no date.

Yes I get those with dates sell the best & are what the the ‘Joe public’ want, & also probably the most useful of all complications.

Whilst the current ceramic version have one of the best integrated date windows, I do prefer the no date monochrome & the no date orange.

I’m keeping an eye open if there is a refresh & to see what avenue Omega will go down.

Unfortunately, sales associates are not always experts about the products they are selling. Not too long ago I had a sales associate telling me that the black no date has a titanium case, also not correct.

The use of aluminum in the dial is specifically a call back to the original 2531.80 and other "first gen" SMPs that used aluminum in the dial.

Here's what omega's site says:

Reviving this thread for a question about the (lack of) AR coating on the new no-date SMP models.

Some reviews mention it’s really a significant step backwards in terms of reflections due to the new model only having inside ARc (and no longer dual sided ARc).

How do owners experience this?

Double edged sword, I don’t need to use poly watch and a dremel to restore the coating on the outside of the crystal on the regular SMP’s. The no date one I have is like a regular watch without AR coating: scratch free 🤣🤣. Doing the inside only’s for the best IMHO. I can show you a picture of my 5 year old SMP with scratches all over the outside coating that makes it look like a hesalite 🤷

I can understand the downside 😁 but apparently I'm not that hard on my watches. I have several pieces with AR coating on the outside and they are all unscathed.

Even my Sinn 104 which I've worn for a decade without much care is still 100% perfect. And the clarity of the dial is just so much more appealing compared to watches with only inside coating...

When I open my watchbox, it's the pieces with double sided coating which visibly jump out, so I prefer being a bit more careful and having a better looking watch 😐

So, but how bad are the reflections in real life? I suppose the bubble dome becomes more of an obvious feature because of it? (which may not be too much of a bad thing altogether)
