My Cosmic (166.036 - Tool 107) says hello!
It is running perfectly. The quick-set for the date is working, but not for the day.
Would like to buy a steel bracelet. I am wondering which one is correct:
I found these combination:

1068/523
1098/526
1125/636
1172/579

Any other combination? And which one do you prefer?

Your list of combinations looks good, all are correct. Here's my 135.017 with 1118/017. I think it looks good but I would prefer a bracelet that's a little more delicate so it doesn't draw attention away from the lovely C-shaped case. In my opinion, a beads of rice bracelet like 1068 looks best with a Cosmic.

My contribution to the club...
'69 Seamaster Cosmic ref. 166.026, picked it up on Ebay with the help & tutelage of this forum.
I didn't mind the lizard skin strap that it came on...but I did mind that it was only 18mm, which left a gap between the strap and lugs.

After a few months of searching, I found a correct set of endlinks from a seller in the UK and bracelet from another seller that was out of the country.

Thank you for your response. The 1068/523 is my favorite combination, but hard to find here. And I don’t want to buy outside EU. Contacted a O-Boutique her in my hometown, but no chance to obtain from them.

Hi Folks,
I'm currently restoring a SC 166.023, Tool 105 (if I find the time...). Will post pictures when it's finished.

What I'm missing is the correct crystal for it. It came with a generic one which doesn't really fit.
Already found out that PZ5082 is the correct original crystal, but not available anywhere.
So does one of you have a source for this is or a matching generic one (cousins preferred)?

166.023 needs the 5082. Is the case stainless or gold plated? PZ5082 is the silver/stainless tension ring, PX5082 is the gold ring.

I haven't seen a generic 5082 before only a 5072 from sternkreuz (excellent btw) so that might be why your generic isn't fitting.

It's steel. Thanks for the list. There is one PZ5082 available in Nepal, through chrono24. Not sure if I should buy in Nepal or just burn my money.

I guess I can't use a generic crystal because the tension ring needs a step, right?

Theres nothing wrong with generic per se, I guess its a matter of personal preference, but it is more an issue of having the correct dimensions to fit properly. The Sternkreuz 5072 generic crystal does have the step on the tension ring for example.

When you say yours doesnt fit in what way are you having issues? I needed to actually pick up a set of dies for my crystal press to get the crystal to seat nicely into a cosmic.

In your case its more that It doesnt look like Sternkreuz make one for the 5082, perhaps theres a GS one, but I dont have any experience with GS but by all reports I see they are good.

@noless
When talking about generic ones, I mean something like ATC309 or the like. These will not work, as they don't have a step/recess in the tension ring and will push down the dial to much. See here: http://www.ranfft.de/uhr/info-kva-e.html
I don't mind using replacement parts, I don't need an Omega symbol on the crystal 😉

ah, I took you to mean generic as in non omega.

an ATC309 would not work as the 5082 has both the stepped tension ring and a slot on the outside edge of the crystal for the tool 105 to grab it for removal (I actually just used a regular bergeon crystal lift, but I was a bit nervous).
I fear you may have no choice but to bite the bullet and order a NOS 5082 given that there is no specific Sternkreuz made for the 5082

GUYS!

Just opened the box from the delivery guy...
And I can finally breath again..

I found this one with an antique dealer, he had cleared out a watch dealers shop and found it on a shelf...
Its a Semester Cosmic 136.017, not sure about the movement (but it should be a manual winder...).
Year around 1969-1970 (will check when it gets serviced).

I only had a few crappy pictures to look at, but he stated that it had never been used!
So I did a little gamble, and it looks fine to me...
Theres even plastic protection on it!!

Its going of to my watchmaker for a super careful service and cleaning!

Sorry for my lousy pictures, but better will follow after the service!

Cheers!
