Hi, Cosmic Club! New here but eager homework-doer, with thanks to the OF and C Club community for all the helpful info so far.

I've been seriously considering a Cosmic 136.017 in the US$800 range (will be serviced right before shipment). It's a reputable seller (Kaba from IG/Reddit; very responsive so far), and most of the things about the watch look good to my admittedly untrained eyes: facets, case brushing, crown, crystal in good shape with the Omega logo, etc. He even provided movement pictures whose serial number checks out.

One thing I’m not sure about is the dial, though: Unlike other 136.017s I’ve seen, the dial seems to have vertical brushing rather than sunburst/radial, and the “Swiss Made” text at the bottom doesn’t have the “T” for tritium.

Could any Cosmic vets spare a moment to share some opinions in general and/or about whether this might be a redial? Would be much appreciated 😀

165.022 with black crosshair dial. I recently picked this up from the watchmaker after a service. It’s running great and hasn’t left my wrist in several days.

My grandfathers cosmic from what I remember was a retirement gift and now handed down to me. Recently handed in for service with a broken foot which rotated the dial and a scratch on the crystal. Now feels brand new and given new life. The manual winding sounds and feels much more crisp. REF 166026-TOOL-107. Liking the black dials with cross hairs and would love owning one for the contrast and a beautiful set with my goldie.

I love all the examples here!
Beautiful Cosmics!
Here is mine. I'm a sucker for roman numerals.

I have just bought this one. Has it been polished way too much? The engraving from the backplate is gone for good I think. I hope it wasn’t a waste of money. I paid like €400 plus €70 for shipping. I think I still love this watch when it arrives.

References for the classic C-cased Cosmic are as follows:
135.017 – Cal. 601, manual winding
136.017 – Cal. 611 / 613, manual winding, date
165.026 – Cal. 552, automatic
166.023 – Cal. 562 / 565, automatic, date
166.036 – Cal. 752, automatic, day-date
Note: Omega also produced other Cosmic models but they are ugly compared to the references listed above.

As an owner of a 135.016 (Cal. 601 from 1966) I'm wondering if you just overlooked the reference here in your list or if you just consider it one of the 'ugly ducklings'?

Here's mine on its original strap.

These are 33mm watches right? Looking at pics it seems this reference has factory polished case instead of sunray brushing. Maybe I should update the reference list, 135.016 certainly has the 'Cosmic-look'.

This one was saved from the bin or the sock drawer for the rest of its life.

The previous owner treated it like crap so I am looking for a dial and hands.

Got it running perfectly though so it owes its life to me he he he.

It’s a plated watch that someone wore extensively. They obviously loved the watch enough to wear out the plating. Someone tried to restore it enough to re-finish it.

So the markings are gone, it’s a lovely piece and you should enjoy it as much as the first owner did.
