Hi
I have a really lovely 1972 Seamaster Cosmic 166.026 watch and would like to fit it with its original strap or bracelet. Can anyone tell me what type of bracelet or strap this watch would have had?
Thanks

some cosmics were sold with black or brown racing type leather straps. there weren't many color choices back then. but it won't go with the dressy style of your white dial.

there was the 1068 metal bracelet with the 523 endlinks. it's hard to find.
I find that it is a beautiful bracelet and very pleasant to wear. this is in my opinion the most elegant composition for your watch.

there was also the 1098 endlinks 526, as well as the 1125 endlinks 636 (I have to check this reference).

The official bracelets for the 166.026 are the following:

1068/523
1098/526
1125/636
1172/579

I think the easiest for you to find would be the 1098/526, but that is also one of the most expensive ones. 1068 and 1125 aren't particularly rare themselves, but the correct endlinks don't come up too often. I have had all of them at different points, so I'm happy to help if you have any particular questions.
