Seamaster calendar vintage

Thoughts on this one given you picked up on the other so quickly? It looks good to my eye the only bit that looked slightly off was the alignment of the 6 hour baton to the minute marker either side. (Wasn’t sure whether the writing on seamaster was a little to loopy either.) it’s from 69
It looks fine to me but this isn’t as much my expertise, so I’d defer to the above. What’s the price?

Sounds like you know what I’m going to say then. If so, the patience idea is a good one. And buying off the forum.

I did have a look and will continue to do so. The issue I think is that there isn’t anything on there at present that I fancy and you guys know far more than me so I fear I’ll be consistently late to the party

Given that you have one you seem ideal to ask. Do you think the watch is in good condition? Anything in particular that concerns you at all?
Some of the minute markers on the dial are not aligned. Some think this is a sign of a refinished dial, though I have watches with original dials like that. Since this reference is dirt common, you can find other examples in other places, like eBay. I think I bought mine there with the correct bracelet for $800 and my watchmaker did a fabulous refinishing of bracelet and watch case. He's both very good and works in a shop where he has access to case refinishing machines of some type not known to me.

I'd keep looking. Pic of mine for reference.

Nice, looks good. I actually found this 168-006 option also, which looks in really good condition to my eye and fits with the style I like

Chronometer is definitely worth buying if the price is right.
It’s £1,300. Which I recognise will have a premium attached to it

That certainly is a premium, especially as it's coming from a dealer. There is no shame in paying a little more for what you want, as long as you keep it "forever". In a private sale, you'd never recover that cost.

I’ve only ever bought new previously and I recognise the hit that comes with that. I plan to keep my pieces, but you never know. This is my first vintage venture, so we will see!

Have you seen this one? It's a day/date so I don't know if that strikes your fancy but it received a full overhaul from the seller.

The day date doesn’t put me off, although I’ve never owned one. As it is for my wedding I have however swayed slightly away from that watch because I think the matt finish on the bezel isn’t quite dressy enough for what I want. It is a watch I might turn back to though, but not for this purpose. Whatever I buy I plan to put on a black leather strap.
Thanks for the heads up though!

What are the prices of the 2nd and 3rd watch?
From memory £1,300 (166.010) and £1,200 respectively

That's a bit to much. Although the second one is a 36mm chronometer which should fetch a bit of a premium. Those sparkle dials are special. Although not everybody like them.

IMHO, I would avoid this one. Just my personal opinion, but the one pictured doesn't have the Cal. 56x, which is a more collectible movement. I have a 166.010 like @SkunkPrince and it is a great watch. I fully recommend getting one, but they pop up all the time, so don't pay a premium and settle for one that is lacking. I also have a 168.022 with sparkle dial like the one you posted. It is one of my favorite watches.
