Hi, i do like this watch but I suspect this a refinished dial as the seller guarantees me that it is all original and not a redial, not sure whether I should go for it, please can I have your advices and idea of how much I should be looking to pay: Fantastic and Beautiful Omega Seamaster Calibre 560 Automatic Swiss Made watch for Men Circa 1960 Guaranteed Original Omega Watch All Stainless Steel Size 34mm x 41mm Thickness: 11mm Omega Dial Restored in White New Leather Band Acrylic vintage omega crystal Serial Number available on request automatic movement cal 560 Beautiful and Shiny Movement This watch is in excellent condition without any damage Some may wonder why there is no logo on the case back? The answer is that some models and this one in particular had plain smooth backs with logo inscribed on the interior of back lid It is original and will become a perfect vintage collectible treasure
1965 and the S in seamaster looks wrong. Could be distortion from a polished chrystal. Also the back has been turned on a lathe. Maybe to remove the satanic award the original owner won.
Surely the seller's own blurb (I'm assuming that's what it is) clearly states "Omega Dial Restored in White". That would seem to be the answer, possibly suggesting that it wasn't originally white either.
Hari Helpful tip Try and avoid the shiney shiney ones Most vintage weren't made this way so you know they've been prepped for sale to non collectors
Hi Hari83 seems you posted the same watch twice? https://omegaforums.net/threads/omega-seamaster-cal1022.40008/ or is it just the same background of all the watches you post that confuses me? Agree with most of the replies though: too shiny is quite often 'too polished'.... My2Ksh W
These sell for about $1,000 - $1,500 here. Very polished for sure so the collectors here wont like that. It's a beauty.
Ah, okay. I'd say that's a dealer price as well, would think that it'll go for that at a dealer in Europe as well.
Hi, in the end it was a bit too shiny for me especially the White dial so didn't go for it but watched it on eBay and Ravineman, you were spot on as it sold for USD 1.460!
@Kwijibo, we're talking dealer prices, which I'd say is about right at $1,000. Not that they can't be found cheaper (or in better condition, for that matter), especially online...
When you see that case is all shiny steer away. There is no sharp edge on that case. I would almost vote for a Franken on this one as it is ref. 166.002 and according to Omegas database it should have cal. 562/565 and not 560 but it could be OK if the watch is in US/CAN and they used cal. 560. https://www.omegawatches.com/planet...ache=1&cHash=99eccc85058efbc9f62936ddaec9aa2a Anyway the Seamaster logo is missing and logo on ref. 166.002 was NOT engraved it was a as I call it relief or 3D logo. Take a look at the pictures. So you would need to take a LOT of the back case material to get it plain as the picture shows. And the dial has been repainted as you can see traces of white color on markers. It s from the new paint. Those marker/index walls were golden to begin with.
it's true that the number is engraved and not stamped, big red flag. If you look for a good old 50's omega contact me. Py price will be much sweeter. cheers
Engraved ref. number on the inner side of the back case is OK. They were both engraved and stamped. Especially "SGR" cases had them engraved.
