Hey everyone,

Looking for some help here. I'm not sure if this Seamaster, cal 284, serial # 16941693, reference 2990 1SC 2996 is the real deal? I suspect redial fishery. Anyone with some info?

Thanks!

My gut instinct is to say yes, it has had the dial refinished. I say that because on a model of this age (50's and early 60's) the "S" of "Seamaster" should be longer and more narrow. This appears to be the more modern "S". Maybe someone else can confirm or contradict me here...

Thanks, that was my thought too. I was also suspicious because of the long "r", which I haven't seen on a Seamaster with the rounded "S". I'm also dubious about the Arabic numeral hour markers. Something about them just feels off...

Yes it is a redial the signs are the wrong font of the r and S of the seamaster plus the omega writing on the top that looks off.

Thanks! I like this calibre, but I'll stay away from this one.
