Seamaster bumper in for a service, re varnish dial, opinions ?

I agree it's very much a matter of personal taste, that the job was executed splendidly, and the watch looks much better now. The loss of the original varnish mean a certain loss of "warmth" in the color, but the pictures of the full watch show the decision was the right one, IMHO.

If you really wanted a warmer feel you could get a sympathetic relume with that yellow / gold patina lume color. Since the original lume is gone I don't there's much harm doing it, even though the expense might be overkill and I think it looks fine now.

If the degradation that gave the "warmth" as you put it, had been evenly distributed, I would have left it in the state it was.

Some sort of relume may have been a good idea, althoug aged radium isn't my favourite colour. As it is now, it will be as long as it is in my possession at least.
