Hi all, new to the forum and hopefully a seamaster 2532.80.00. Circa 1999 I have seen one i like but i am torn between the blue bezel and the polished stainless version. The blue seem to mark easily and dull down but the ss seem to hold the shine. Pro's and cons from the voices of experience on this forum please. Thanks all
In my opinion, I was looking at these models and felt the Stainless bezel was best. However it does make it look like an even older model. The classic blue is great yet most will have imperfections and need replacing if you want a clean appearance. Either a aftermarket non omega bezel insert or replace entire bezel with Oem for $500! Perhaps I’m wrong yet that’s the information I obtained. I’d say the Stainless is a clean look. I decided to save a bit more and acquired a pre owned ceramic. I’m glad I did. Good luck on the adventure of searching, that’s always fun and frustrating.
Welcome Tony! I have both the 2531.80 and the 2532.80; if I had to choose one over the other I’d select the blue bezel 2531.80. I prefer it’s appearance and enjoy the James Bond connection. Worst case - if you don’t care for the stainless bezel of the 2532 you could either swap the bezel or flip it for a 2531. Cheers!
Thanks guys, every bit of info helps. Just to add to the post, max you would pay for this one with all the docs and in good condition. Sorry for being green but its my first big buy
I definitely prefer the 2531.80 but the later luminova one. I have done quite a lot in mine and it has held up really well. And they look good in rubber straps
Dam, just found a much newer one, more expensive and a few dings in the ss around the bezel also not a wave pattern on the face but looks great, circa 2014..........the wife is not a happy bunny
Half the fun is the hunt. I understand the first big buy and decision,There are not inexpensive. Yet I’ll tell ya…they are worth it. I prefer the older He valve compared to the new reese’s cup one. Make sure to post photos! Ps- I really like my non wave dial.
