Seamaster Automatic potential frankenwatch?

Afternoon all,

Was browsing ebay and came across the following listening, marketed as a calibre 501 omega seamaster. Now, my understanding was that calibre 501's were in pre-1960 seamasters. The reason this is important, is that the dial is marked up as t-swiss made-t, which indicates tritium lume, which would age the dial as 1964+. I'm not an expert, so thought it would be better to ask if my assumptions are correct.

The simplest explanation is often the correct one - it has been redialed.

the crown looks "misplaced" too, like it belongs on another model

Yikes is an understatement. Definitely repainted and I've never seen one marked tritium....I've actually haven't seen any with original lume on the dial...only the hands. These 2975's are really cool though and the dials are almost always wrecked. Unfortunately, It's also next to impossible to find replacements. I'm not sure if anybody can corroborate this, but I had read somewhere that this model was only made for a year (maybe two?) starting in 1958 and is one of the first seamasters to have the hippocampus on the back.

It's a unique model. A 1-piece very limited edition 😀
