Can anyone vere tell me anything about this Seamaster, age/value. It is a winding clock with separate second dial. And it looks like everything is working fine. It has not been used for about twelve years, when my grandfather died. I think the glass is plastic, and it has some cracks and marks. I think it is from the 60s, but I am really not sure. Take a look at the pictures.
Nice watch. Better pictures would be very helpful. Try taking them outdoors if you're having too much trouble. Probably late 50's early 60's. Powered by a manual wind 30mm caliber my guess. Value will vary greatly on condition, which is hard to make out from the blurry photos. Great heirloom to remember him by, should you decide to keep it.
The watch will need a complete service, as the oil has dried up, but it is not expensive, Get a new crystal and a nice leather or croc strap, and you have a great watch. It looks like the dial is in good condition, and the black dials are rarer.
Got some new pictures today. Stopped by my local watchmaker and he opened it for me. He also polished the glass, cleaned it and put on a nice leather strap. Now I think it looks amazing. I looked up the serial number and as far as I found it is 1960 model. Look at the pics and let me know what you think
Might be Paint. My grandfather painted furniture, but it came off pretty easy when the watchmaker cleaned it. The photo is before cleaning.
I think I misunderstood you. The watchmaker did not clean the dial. Only the case og the watch. It was some paint on the back of the watch. I think the dial looks pretty good, but I am only a novice. Can you explain where you see the flaw? I will post more pics tomorrow with better light.

Here are some more pics. I think it is completely original. Can never imagine my grandfather would bother to refurbish this piece. Most likeley it has not been used or winded up since 04/05. My mother gave it to me last saturday, I winded og up and it ran instantly. Anyone who can value it?
Looks like an original black and gilt dial with some age related wear to me. I think it's a nice watch, I'd get it serviced and enjoy!
This is a strange one. From some angles it appears perfectly fine, from others it looks like the markers were dropped into wet paint. IMO, I'd tend towards an original gilt dial, mainly because there is intact lume (presumably radium) that exhibits correct aging and patination.
I had a seamaster with similar bubbling around the markers. It was ugly but I didn't think it was messed with. Ref 14390.
