This pic is funny beacause, see the Omega logos. Tehy seem to be inverted. The thinner one should be the elder the bold one the latter.
Just a picture off the net.
My watch as found:

Hm.. I doubt that this is the original crown. See the space around the crown. This said. I may be wrong.

my two one, watchco style and 1963.
The old one has the "Najad" - not screw down - version. I used to own one as well.
I only know of the two variants: Najad and Screw down.
As for my watch I believe it to be correct as a first year version of the latter.

It could be a 1970s service crown, but the watch was found in a situation and condition that makes me relatively certain it has seen little work ever done to it.

yes there are the screw down and the najad, but in these two versions there are also differents logos on the recente ones, the two are still available in service parts.
On my pic : above, recent screw down with large rounded logo. the other is flat non screw down with quite narrow logo.
PS ;: I didn't mean to be aggressive

No aggression sensed!😀
I like a qualified discussion.
As for my crown it is what it is. And as pointed out it was found in a condition that indicates that not much has been ever done to it.
The CB case back had one service inscription/tag, so possibly the crown is an early service replacement.
From the state of the gaskets and other telltale clues, no one had opened it in ages prior to my watchmaker.

The original post is a great bezel reference! Here is my Watchco vs Niad:

a service flat crown? circa 1967 isn't it?

No worry, your sm is splendid. And we are quite sick indeed! Your bezel look like a 70/71 you should have a 164.024 CB case.

nice! There's often a difference between the year of production and the year of selling. 1968 movement.

The archive extract would normally indicate the production of the watch (as in final assembly) and not the movement production date.

Great post .... Here's another bezel font. Very close to D except there is no inner cant to the 4 & the tail sweep of the 5 is more stylised, sorry for the poor pic... sold the watch a couple of years ago & it's all I have. 247 mill 1967

Regards

Funny thing is that I have a 26.9 serial with 1969 production date with a C type bezel.
