Not sure if these were posted before but I think these just popped up.
To me the offering appears to be similar to the Seamaster 120 kits that are offered on the same platforms (eBay, Etsy).
Basically all components are included except the movement. Let’s see how long it will take until we see lots of “NOS examples” popping up ::facepalm1::

Be aware, pictures for your reference.

Am I overlooking something or is it the same as with the watchcos?

The watchcos are genuine Omega service parts. These are fake parts made to look like original Omega components.

These have been around for 10 years. Raffles Time in Singapore used to openly sell fake SM300 and other watch parts. No longer thankfully. The quality is not terrible but there are easy tells. Oh the price has gone up rather, a set like that used to be around $100 so not just a faker, a gouging faker.

This kit look quite different to what has been offered previously. Most of the obvious tells seem to have been addressed. Flat topped A in waterproof and no indices at 3 and nine on the dial. Fakers are getting better

But still Ts on a SL dial though probably. If it is substantially better that is a worry.

Here is a much earlier Raffles Time number that came my way until luckily it was stolen from me by an unscrupulous and thankfully not very discerning watchmaker who shall remain nameless. for the avoidance of doubt this is 100% fake and only being shown to highlight this fact:

Any thoughts on why folks would target the 120's and 300's? Seems to me if you're going to fake a watch you'd pick something more expensive and/or modern. Is it just that they're easy to fake?

I have seen the Chinese knock offs are back and priced at 228 for a complete watch but they look a bit worse than this and the casebacks are more obvious fake. The case is really bad.

Hard to tell on these photos but this looks a bit better and more prone to deceive.

Still relatively hard to find and not at all cheap. There is a whole community of vintage "replica" collectors that just want a big assortment of classic pieces.

The luminous material still looks artificially aged and the bezel fonts are still off. A knowledgeable buyer will catch them, but a lot of novices won’t. Glad I got the urge to buy one of these out of my system 10 years ago when you could still find real ones at reasonable prices. It was a nice watch, but I still like my new Seamaster 300 MC more.

My guess is that this will make the Watchco SM300's worth more.

Why? Fakes, particularly accurate fakes* cause uncertainty and can shake confidence. I can't see a profusion of good fakes being a positive for either genuine vintage SM300s or Watchco/Repro modern versions.

*As noted, the jury is out on whether the above is an accurate fake, it still has notable issues. Thankfully.

I’m a little surprised to learn this, not shocked, but surprised. ::facepalm1::

Does Omega ever go after these clowns?

Not after the replica ones afaik but they have curbed the sale of spare parts that would be used for the watchco versions.

I have to confess that I would (and pls don't blame me for that 'cause I also don't support the spread of counterfeit watch parts) always prefer an acrylic bezel insert over the alloy lume tipped piece that watchco sells, even if it's … … …:cool::cautious:

Not quite sure what you mean? The Watchco parts are service Omega parts, from Omega. Those service bezels also have acrylic inserts, not alloy lume-tipped ones.

Hi, I literally just saw this one on eBay, could it also be dodgy?
