Hi,

as I'm actively looking to put a nice dress watch into my collection I've come across the mentioned Seamaster locally and am interested to hear your opinion - I didn't see this configuration of dial and hands before - so i'd like some feedback.
And your ideas for the price on this to be fair to the seller and me.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if its missing the bezel?

As with the poster I'm having an issue with the markers on the dial, I've followed through with "research" on some other online sources and it seems that the case and the plexi are correct to the ref# but again the hands and the markers are making me worried.
300$ is the asking price.

Omega made many dial variations within the same reference, just because it’s uncommon doesn’t make it wrong.
To my eye the one I linked has an original dial.
If you could post better pics of the dial you will get more opinions.

This is the best I could get from the seller, don't want to irritate the guy further we have been back and forth for a week. Thanks!

I think the "thing" that you are worried about is the missing lume inlay on the hour and minute hands. There were many different styles of hands used by omega, and the plain dauphine hour and minute hands on your example were often used by omega for their watches. I think they are legit, but the problem with those parts (not only with omega watches) is, that they are not omega marked, so it's almost impossible to tell if the hands were "original" or not. Furthermore, the dial does not look to be a redial, but I'm wondering if there ist a "Swiss Made" print on the bottom of the dial since I can't see it on the pictures you've provided ?

There is something as far as I can see in the reflection on the metal.

If all of this does check out and the dial + hand configuration was or is an original omega configuration would I be overpaying it if I give 300 bucks for it?

I am really not sure, I have to leave it to the more experienced OF members If that's a reflection of the "Swiss Made"or not. But I would definitely ask the seller, because if there was no "Swiss Made" print, the chances are extremely good that something about the originality of the dial is wrong.

In the UK $300 would be a good price for this model. Over here you would expect to pay £400 upwards for one in decent condition.

My personal take based on the photos:
1.) There’s colour variation in the movement so you can assume some parts have been changed/renewed.
2.) Dial is original imo.
3.) Crown is original.
4.) Hands look original.
4.) The case condition is average (case back has some clumsy tool marks/scratches). It’s not been overly polished.
5.) There’s light rotor rub marks on the case back and rotor top (this may have already been addressed in a previous service)
6.) Depending on its history you may need to factor in a service.

At $300 would I buy it? - yes probably.

7.) tension ring not fitting right, possible non-Omega crystal.
I see a gap between the dial and ring at 2:30 and 10:00

This is a tired watch. Inexpensive yes. Save your money.

Just seen it now, this will in fact be the point of being a deal breaker for me. 😲😲😲😲😲

Ok, seeing it now on a different PC monitor i can definitely see that the rotor, and the other parts differ quite a lot from the baseplate.

Seeing all of this I'll conclude the inquiry with a WON'T BE BUYING conclusion... Thank you for keeping me and my money safe as knowing me I'd be bothered by that and try to rectify the issues only to invest too much money into a losing proposition.

Thanks!
