Hi All, Can the experts please weigh in on this Seamaster 120 I’m considering. I really don’t believe it’s a fake, but just would like to be sure it’s original and not a bitza. Any and all comments would certainly be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Mike 😁

Thanks for the positive responses, most appreciated. With the price of these nowadays, it’s certainly good to go to the experts, indeed. Mike 😀

Looks genuine. Bear in mind the wear to the bezel and the fact it’s a manual not automatic, so it won’t command the prices of the best ones

I know, but I actually prefer the simplicity of the 135.027, zero bells and whistles. Despite that, the gentleman is asking a hefty price. With the prices of SM300s being what they are, it’s kind of tides lift all boats, no? I will try to get him to shave a bit off if at all possible. 😉

This is a movement shot from the chaps that sold it to the current owner, which makes it a fairly early one, hence, the Waterproof designation on the case back, correct?

Why the secrecy, what’s the asking price?

No secrecy, $2,400 is the ask price, which I believe to be a bit steep.

No bracelet and unserviced?

That’s too much imo. Should be more like $1800-1900 max.

That’s exactly what I was thinking, I was going to offer $1,850/shipped/insured, but I think that he bought it from Craft & Tailored, so… 😲

I’m no expert on interpreting these readings but I’d say amplitude is a bit low and beat error a bit high.
Is it sold as freshly serviced? Do they have proof?

Not sure about the service, as I haven’t asked. I will do so and ask if he has paperwork if it was, in fact, serviced. I’m going to make an offer, so will keep you guys posted. Thank you for spending so much time on this, no pun intended. 🙄

You shouldn’t have to suffer for his mistakes. Fair market value is fair market value. Make the offer, he has the right to say no. If he doesn’t succeed in getting his asking price then he may reach back out to you- but if you have found a better one in that time- then his loss not yours.

True, these are words to live by my friend. A few years back, I could have purchased one of these in lovely condition for $500, but it was missing the bezel. I did a quick search for one, but to no avail, so I passed, regretfully. Anyhow, I’m seriously considering this one, but don’t want to feel like I overpaid either.

i think that if you did buy that watch you would still be searching for an original bezel until today as i never saw one for sale

I do believe that’s true, as I’ve looked from time to time and never saw one for sale either. I’m sure everyone has seen the empty case for sale here the OF for $1,095, so what does that say for a complete, fully functioning example?

$500 would have been worth the usable parts- but you are correct that you would still be searching for a bezel.

Sounds like you have FOMO and are trying to convince yourself that this may be your shot at a good one. The one you posted above is actually one of the better ones we have seen as of late. Well worn but honest. There is agreement of what market price “should” be but if you are feeling the- must have now- pangs and the premium would quell your wanderlust and not cause hardship, then go for it.
I have overpaid for several watches I fell in love with and had to have. 4/5 of them I have no regrets.
