Seachero/Ranchero Case Question

A curiosity question. Does anyone know whether the “Seachero” 2996 case and the Ranchero 2990 case are one and the same like the Seamaster 2759 and 2761 cases or are there subtle differences? They look identical to me. My recollection is that Omega essentially created the Seachero by swapping variations of Seamaster dials and hands into Ranchero cases because Ranchero sales were so poor at the time due to the aversion that many Spanish cultures had to the Ranchero due to its literal translation as “ranch hand.”

Had to search on what a Seachero was.

I had one and it had a 267 movement. Dials probably the same diameter

He's the original post, but dial not listed or shown. Poor redial.

No crying over prices. There is a 1 on the case, but not sure of the ranchero model has the same number

The midcase is the same i think, but different casebacks shape.

The center second movement is higher so the 2996 back is not flat as the 2990 caseback but curved.

I wonder, if there are differences, why did they mark one cap with two reference numbers? (photo from the Internet)

But for example 2996-1, in my opinion even the shape of the ears is different. The lid is also significantly different.
