The first one is fullset, asking around 4200USD. The second hobnail connie is around 2700USD. How do you value them?

Second one is a definite buy at $2700
Don't know whether the dial is original or not... It seems ok to me.

btw, i always wanted to ask: the bezel and lugs of a gold capped omega, is solid gold or just gold plated?

Both are just gold capped. Not gold. If you are willing to spend real money, why not buy a nice gold Connie that you will be happy with for a long time.

Actually I prefer SS.

Me too, so why the focus on gold-capped examples? Buy a great collectible SS Constellation.

Gold-capped watches are certainly much better than gold-filled/plated and a good compromise if a gold-cased watch isn't in the budget. But I can't see myself spending multiple thousands of USD on one.

but these dials are really hard to come by, not to mention this one of such good condition. I don't mind take it while I'm still searching for a ss one.

Just for clarity.

On a gold capped watch, the lugs (and sometimes mid case) is covered in a thick layer of gold. (200 microns IIRC)
you can see the edge of the gold ‘wrap’ on the back of the lugs in the pic below.

The bezel is solid gold due to fact that it would be difficult to produce such a small section of metal in gold cap.

exactly, Chinese collectors call it 包金, a direct translate of "gold wrapped"

I prefer SS and solid gold too, but I could not pass on these two capped (rose gold) ones:

The black dial ia nice but at a big premium, if you can bargain down to ~3k it would be nice.

high resolution pictures.

As was stated above, this one would be a very good purchase (financially, that is - if you don’t like gold-cap that’s a different story). That dial isn’t easily found, and 2.2k$ is a great price, I’d buy that in an instant.

The black one isn’t such a deal, and whilst not exactly common they are easier to be found than the structured “hobnail” dial.
