Any theories on what this is?

It sold for around 1500 Euro, so I guess people believed it to be a redial.

The text is not wholly convincing and the fact that the minute markers are so far from the marker ring does not look right.

But I'm not certain and if it was just a redialled Polerouter, would we not see where the logo had previously been attached?

Now on sale at Wind Vintage as a “scholarship changing” Polerouter for conderably more than €1500….

Incredible discovery, never seen a SAS Polerouter before. Looks like an insanely early Polerouter too.

On hold already.

I'm still not sure what it was. We've seen enough SAS connected watches that don't fit the usual pattern to leave room for doubt in my mind. I would be interested to know what @CafeRacer thinks.

Doubt that it could be fake, or that it could be genuine?

The aspect I find least convincing is the minute markers, lume plots and 'Swiss' text being so far from the marker ring. Typically that 'Swiss' text sits on the edge, or even underneath the edge, of the marker ring not 2mm inside. Poorly aligned minute markers like this usually suggest a redial.

The fact that the dial is so clean and the hands likely relumed adds to my doubt about its originality, as does the fact that we've not seen another.

However I am definitely on the fence to some extent, hence the reason for my original post.

Here is another example of the Pola SAS with lume, from this Norwegian website: https://www.tidssonen.no/scandinavian-airlines-system-og-universal-geneve-polarouter/
This website indicates it is a ref. 20217-5, same as the Eric Wind example (Wind’s case back photo here), which is a Polerouter not Polarouter case. Could someone have gotten ahold of one of the stencils and made a one-off SAS Polerouter dial, perhaps decades ago?

Fairly sure that's the same watch as is pictured in the hand above (note the same crown - similar to a Pola crown but not UG).

I think that watch is in a 20217-5 (Pola) case whereas the Eric Wind example is in an S20217-5 (Pole) case.
