Yes, but she's got a great personality!

I've never understood the need to wear something that will scratch my watch.

I'm gonna guess that they are for for the same people that wear large plastic frame glasses.

In my opinion sailing bracelets look terrible, but that鈥檚 only my opinion! Other points of view are completely valid! Each to their own, wear whatever you like and makes you happy!

Exactly, exept they just look unnecessary, not terrible as such.

If only I had a dollar for everything I buy that's unnecessary, I'd have a LOT more unnecessary stuff!

So only the sailors in this group think sailing bracelets are not necessary?

Oddly, some of the divers in this group find diving watches unnecessary, but swear by sailing bracelets when flying wearing a pilot's watch

The bracelet can`t be used for anything, exept decoration, so yes I think they are unnecessary. In addition they may snag on "stuff" and being a danger that way. So I would not wear one either on a boat or at work, mostly because I am not used to wear jewelry. How ever I am thinking of making one, as it looks like a simple, fun project.

But as always: You do you!

Sure but that's an attempt to justify jewelry preferences as rational/"necessary" vs other's as frivolous, ie "but I can use these diamonds to cut glass if I need to!" when they're both just frivolous preferences.

With that, if we were talking about using, say, a Rolex, as a bugout baubble, that's accurate. Diamonds & gold work great there too.

But as always: you do you!

Go with paracord and weave a blade, bottle opener and toothpick into it. 馃槈馃憤

I like the design of the original Omega Sailing bracelet but I'm concerned about its stiffness. Owners, please share your experience. Thanks! 馃榾

The older you get, the more concerned about stiffness you get!

Well it鈥檚 technically not a sailing bracelet as much as it is my wife鈥檚 hair tie. Just wanted to try the look as I am hearing about them 1st time here.
Paired with the most water resistant watch I currently have ( actually my 12 yr old boys). D look didnt fly for me. But beats the hell out of buying a similar looking band for 200USD.

Not nessesarily, its just my preferences. I have never worn any kind of jewelry, exept for my wedding ring and a watch. My wedding ring is a minor hassle, but I like wearing it becuse it makes me think of my wife and the watch is, as you know, a very practical tool and looks great. (2254).

It may have a bit to do with this guy, the vocalist of Norwegian band "A-ha" who was the hottest shit in the 80`s.馃榾

Hottest shit ay? I don't like hot shits....they burn and I prefer to be able to wipe my arse properly rather than just carefully dab at it
