Rolex never produced Blueberry GMT inserts

To be fair, I don't think dealers are responsible for creating the hype. Pushing the prices maybe and seeing what the limit of sanity is, but that's true of anyone in sales really.

The internet created the hype and, plus, all blue bezels are legit beautiful. Rolex would do well to bring out an all blue ceramic gmt. That'd be hot.

I also think Ben is right - there are some really interesting prototypes out there, from Singer and elsewhere, never fitted into a watch but cool nonetheless. But, most of what's out there is fake. And Ben doesn't own a blueberry so ... yeah.

reading this thread and keeping an eye on the instagram debates is nothing but fascinating. I hope that Rolex steps in to stop speculations from all sides of the debate. But then again, why should Rolex even bother about us nerds talking blue gmt bezels? 😁

They shouldn't... Which is why the fact that they actually even bothered to answer at all is mesmerizing!

Doesn't anyone know Isabelle Humm? (the lady who presumably issued the letter)
I am sure that a lot of members of this forum are well connected to the watch industry.

You guys are getting a little too paranoid for me
Next you'll be telling me the famous Fruit Striped Ghost edition didn't come as a choice with the Borat GMT-III

Well, the guy I get my “fantasy” fuchsia inserts from can easily make blueberries...that’s all I needed to know.

If you have a guy that could make 1:1 forgeries if he wanted and chooses not to, then there 10x people out that will choose to make the forgery if there is money it.

It’s an insert people...but a fool and his money.

I’ll be happy with my real fuchsia...at least we true photographic proof of these existing in 1968, and btw, it left the factory that way.

I have no dog in this fight either way and no real opinion either.. But the single most knowledgeable Rolex person i know says there were a few hundred legit blueberry bezels that were service replacements.. Made by Rolex.. And now there are a thousand counterfeit copies of them and most of the sales in the last few years are counterfeit bezels. Which is basically what hodinkee said in the original article about them

Is this any different than the blue soleil Speedmaster dials..?

Cleary worlds apart.

Every blue soleil dial is legit Omega/Singer made, and there aren’t a bunch of fraudsters selling thousands of fakes for 5 digits.

True......however if someday Rolex officialy state that they never produced the blueberry insert, not even for service or test part, and people still sell that as original rolex insert (and not just as a cool insert ), well that day we move from good forgery of a possible produced bezel to a total fraud and dealer should behave accordinly. Especially when people pay high premium for that.

So, you imply its a fake dial, because of the extract?

Oh no no no no no.
I'm just saying that if someone have one he wants to add a plus or have a paper that say that the watch came with that dial he can't with an extract.

The thing that gets me about all of this is that we have guys in other forums with eagle eyes who can spot a font discrepancy a mile away. How did these blue bezel pass through such scrutiny for so many years? Surely they have things that give them away? Fonts, alignments etc..

agree.. .which might explain why some incredibly knowledgeable rolex experts believe they are legit service inserts from the 70s that then were copied. .
