Rolex never produced Blueberry GMT inserts

agree.. .which might explain why some incredibly knowledgeable rolex experts believe they are legit service inserts from the 70s that then were copied. .

Thats exactly what I have been thinking. I really thought in terms of their shared knowledge nothing got past them. I have posted photos of watches I was interested in only to have them shot down. I never questioned their views. However, going forward, I will always be skeptical. Also given the silence from these so called experts regarding these blue inserts, it makes me think none of them want to stick their neck out and lose their reputation. If I ever buy another vintage rolex again, I will make my own judgements and those will be based purely on context. Thats how I have done it in the past.

i find orchipalar on IG to be very inflammatory but his work on various rolex "prototypes" and how they were made up by dealers and memorialized in certain books and then sold for hundreds of thousands of dollars is well worth reading for anyone venturing into the shark tank who hopes to come out alive

its a big profitable business as long as no one asks too many questions

he has been saying blueberry inserts are all fake for years and years

orchi is a relative newcomer to the vintage rolex arena who's sole purpose was to pick the brains of respected dealers and collectors, only to turn on them in his quest to become some sort of force to be reckoned with himself.

his patently insincere "buddy" bullshit and slaughtered English was initially cute and got his foot in the door years ago but most in-the-know now dismiss him for what he is.

there are ways to respectfully discuss and debate watch topics without resorting to interrogatory styles-buttonholing and demanding answers. no one owes orchi any explanations since his interest most certainly isn't about gaining knowledge. it's all about knocking down experts he feels are ranked higher than himself. this is why regardless of whether he happened to stumble upon anything valid, he should be ignored.

we personally know many of the experts he has attacked in the past, and his behavior-his public and unnecessary attempt at shaming them is unsettling.

As said before, we know that for very special customers (e.g. Cartier), everything was possible... special delivery versus special order...

His style is very divisive. Unfortunately that causes alot of people to dismiss him completely. I politely disagree on your above statement (emphasis mine) that one should dismiss valid evidence if the person presenting it is a douche or impolite. If you look through his , admittedly, rough and impolite communication strategy most of his arguments make sense. Not only on this matter but a few others.

I follow him on IG and few of those respected watch dealers.

For example when one Orchi presents photographic evidence of the clearly subpar quality of these blue inserts when compared to the know originals(Pepsis) in addition to the Rolex letter, one should question the "experts" who have sold these and made hundred's of thousands on these.

Especially when some of these experts and dealers are well know to produce and find "prototype" after "prototype".
Even before I knew of Orchi, I was very skeptical of a particular IG dealer and seller with a continuous stream of either prototype Rolex watches or dials.

The discrepancy is even more obvious when the counterargument is that "Rolex doesn't know their own history" or that "I know an expert who knows that these are real" I have to question the logic of this.

If one side of the argument shows photos to support their argument and the other just sticks to "I know a guy who knows these things" I will tend to believe the first-mentioned.
