Rolex market predictions?

Would you agree a year and a half on, his prediction looks like it is coming to pass. Rolex windows are now populated with real watches many of which you can walk in and buy and the froth has well and truly gone. Very few models resell for overs any more and some take a big big bath. It was already a falling market and it’s continuing to fall.

Fancy a Batman? You can pick them up way under list now. Anyone who paid over list for anything is probably now sitting on a loss. Let’s hope they bought the watch because they liked it.
May I ask where you got this information from?

A quick search of Chrono24 shows a lowest price of AUD$21,750 from a private seller for a 2014 model and AUD$22,223 from a dealer for a 2018 model. Both with box and papers. Cheapest on eBay is AUD$21,800 for a 2016 with box and papers. Current retail price for a Batman on the Rolex website is AUD$17,500.

Whilst I agree that the Rolex market is definitely off the boil, and anyone who bought at the height will be sitting on a loss, I can't see any examples of a Batman going for under retail. The Explorer 124270, on the other hand, is a different story. There's currently two examples on Chrono24 with box and papers going for under retail. Both 2022 models.

A fair point. I’ve just looked at eBay UK sold listings. The list RRP is £9.5k here now. There are a couple of lower priced outliers but the bulk of sales are at £10K or a little over so yes with the Batman at least you can still get your money back with a little tickle. That was an extreme example perhaps since it was once an extremely hot watch but my point stands, the days of flipping for profit with these are numbered and anyone who paid list plus on any Rolex should be nervous. If you need a quick sale for instance, the Watchfinder offer is now over a grand less than list I believe.

Perhaps other markets are different.

Don’t forget that the 10k on eBay is before they take 10% or more in commission, and taxes.
So you may not get your money back

Bad vibes as long as there are predicadores buying overpriced watches from dealers.

Is Costco selling Rolex’s again? Just today I’ve seen two articles saying that the brand is back on their stores?
