1mm is the width of the tip of a sharp pencil so I think you should be fine with a 35mm but ideally you can try one on first. Newer Rolex generally wear larger when you look at the lug to lug width
You’re right. The solid end link does add a few mm to the overall lug to lug width. I actually tried one on and compared with a sub.
