Well there's quite some bullshit in this. Wonder who paid for it 😀 one way to legitimize things... 😀
What exactly are you referring to? This was a crazy cool collection of top quality GMT references and content for collectors to enjoy.

🤦

There will ALWAYS be nay-sayers!!

Eric even mentioned in the video the general lack of consensus about the "blueberry" version of the GMT-Master, so I am not sure what one is referring to here, especially without substantiating their claims. 🤨

Thank you so much!!

This is an informative and well-researched video.

It would be great to see Reference Points with Navitimers and Chronomats.

Thank you.

This segment is definitivtly Hodinkees best, as always a good time to watch almost a whole models production line at the same time.
They should look at more brands than Rolex though!

Agreed, these episodes really are top-notch, and even if you are a "guru" that has nothing left to learn, seeing such an array of spectacular watches is second to none !

Nice job.

I think the contribution of these Reference Points videos goes beyond the newbie introduction so many find in them—myself included. With these videos I just marvel at the effort that must have gone into getting all these variations of the same model in one place, on one table. That is no small feat, and it allows for side by side comparison that normally wouldn't be able to pull off.

I would very much second the appreciation of a Navitimer instalment—even though Eric Wind doesn't specialize in Breitling. Maybe something to fly Fred Mandelbaum in for—when we can safely fly Stateside again?

Yes, these segments are very interesting for collectors. As someone who shared a watch for the GMT segment to be created, I can imagine the time and effort it took to assemble all 34 references, tape and edit the video and research the accompanying narrative. I look forward to more in the future.

Thanks for sharing. I’ve been leaning strongly toward a GMT Master being my next watch. Now I need to figure out what the independent GMT hand is independent of. 😀

It would be independent of the local hour hand. In essence, when non independent, if you have your bezel in the “normal” position pointing to 12 o’clock, then the GMT hand would read the same exact time as your local hour hand. So, on these, the only way to get the GMT hour is to rotate the bezel according to the time difference with your local time.

I don’t know why it took me a moment to wrap my mind around that. Thanks!

No problem. This is also why on a non-independent GMT hour watch, you can only read two different times at any given time, whereas on the more modern ones you can technically read three different times.
Think about this... 😉

And more importantly, that the original explorer did not have a rotating bezel, with the second hour hand therefore working merely as a 24 hour watch slaved to the 12 hour watch (purpose: cave exploration).
