I've had a couple of Daytonas for ages and one no date Sub that I love, and I find that, unlike vintage Speedmasters, I much prefer the lum remain nice and white. On old Speedmasters, I'd have no interest in bright white lum. Does anyone else have similar tastes? I'm picking up my first GMT 17610 on Tuesday, and I find I much prefer a nice clean bezel and bright white lum on those, as well.

I kinda feel the same way too, but I'm okay with a speedy with or without patina, as long as it's not a vintage with a new dial. I have a 1976 Speedy that would be a crime to have bright white lume, and several newer ones that I love the white and functional lume. My 1983 Submariner never developed patina and I liked that I didn't. But as a daily wear watch I wanted it to glow, so my watchmaker who sold it to me had it professionally re-lumed and would buy it back if I didn't like it, but I did - it looked the same under a loupe but afterwards it glowed in the dark.

On topic, I used to have both a 2015 BLNR and a 5-digit circa 2000 Coke GMT II, but as of last year all I have now is this newer Pepsi GMT II mk2 from 2019...

16710 with all the inserts and bracelets makes it a very likable watch!

Hi Larry, after having had a 5 digit and a 6 digit GMT II, would you say that the newer GMT II mk II is really better? I mean as for use, not for investment.

Absolutely - I wear it often, while my Hulk and SD43 are safe queens. My 2000 Coke GMT felt a little more flimsy and wore smaller on my wrist, even though that year had solid end links and sapphire crystal. Timekeeping on both is phenomenal, but I just think my modern Pepsi is more refined, although less "tool" than the older one.

Spring has finally arrived, little bit of joy in otherwise very difficult times.

It looks like James Lovell is still wearing the GMT Master that was given to him by the Naval Academy to celebrate his successful Gemini 7 flight 👍

There was a time when I hated a Rolex GMT. I couldn't get past the small crown, thankfully I grew out of that phase
