·The wait for Astro-Physics telescopes is about 9 years. Of course, they're made by the founder of Astro-Physics himself, not by assistants (they do other AP products), so that's part of the reason. Also, he wants to keep the prices semi-affordable for enthusiastic amateurs to buy and take to the field to observe with, not collectors' items kept in their boxes, so he's not doing the obvious by raising prices to what the market will bear.
I gather a lot of people's needs change while they are on the list -- out of astronomy, decided to go for big aperture Newtonian instead of a refractor, paying for child's education, already bought a refractor which works fine for them, etc.
This, while not relevant to the Daytona waitlist, is actually really really interesting.
How many telescopes does Astro-Physics generate in a year? I'm looking on the site and it's $6.9k for the entry level telescope (130GTX) all the way up to $22.5k for the (305RHA).
