Hi I want to order a white face cosmograph Daytona and understand there is an 18 month odd wait. Do you pay a deposit or the full value when placing the order? Thanks
18 month wait.... Umm find a new dealer. Or better yet call a Rolex dealer and order one lol. Easiest way to find out.
Unless you have purchased regularly from the Rolex dealer I wouldn't hold your breath on receiving the white face or even the sportier black faced Daytona. You will however be added to the so called list but, take that with a pinch of salt. If these pieces were that easy to get hold of they wouldn't be demanding such a huge premium on the grey market
I've put my name down at a Rolex AD for a white face and was told 3 years having made many purchases in the past. The Rolex boutique in Sydney would not even take down my name.
I’m still baffled why they are constraining production on these. It’s not like they have a limited number of Zenith movements to modify anymore.
I will pop along to my local ad tomorrow and see what they say.... What sort of deposit is to be paid?
The previous model Daytona had a modified Zenith El Primero in it for over a decade. Up until this version Rolex never had an in-house automatic chronograph. Some of the manual winds didn’t have Rolex movements either if I remember. The Daytona waiting period started with the Zenith version as Zenith only sold them a limited number of movements a year.
I haven't heard of anyone requiring a deposit... besides the oddball story of a "well, buy something here and we'll see what we can do..." I doubt they'd take your money. A normal AD is getting a couple a year, and you'll be the 3rd person that day who has come in (or called in) asking for one. I put my name down at an AD that I have a decent purchasing & personal history with *the very day it was announced*, and I got it around 18 months later. But hey, I don't want to be discouraging. Go in, start talking, build up a bit of a personal relationship. I mean, stop by from time to time to browse and then ask about what they've been getting. There's so such thing as a truly ordered "list". If they get one and someone drops out and you come to mind, you'll be next.
The attitude of the dealers and Rolex themselves along with the growing “chav” tag in the U.K. make the speedie much more desirable to lots of people.....
you can prob walk into a store (or two) and buy one of those today. it is the SS models that have waiting lists.
