I was discussing Rolex watches with a brother collector yesterday. He commented that there has been a chronic problem associated with erratic date change function on the newest calibers of Rolex watches. Anybody have anything to report?

I can’t add anything to this apart from that I haven’t seen anything on TRF. I’m on there quite a lot so if I’ve missed anything it must be an isolated or minor issue.

I assume he means the new DJs ?

He wasn’t specific as to the particular model. But since these never calibers are usually a base model with complications added, I assumed the problem (if there is one) applied to more than just the Date-Just.

The date change on my 16600 always happens within 30-45 seconds from midnight. Not the newest caliber however...

Sure he wasn’t referencing Tudor and the gmt? I’m fairly regular on TRF and have never seen Rolex mentioned in that regard....

no issues notices on my end on any of my watches...I am not very anal about it though so if the issue is that the date changes a minute here or there or even 5 or ten minutes here I=or there I would not have noticed... or cared really.

My friend mentioned a problem like the date numeral stalling half way in the dial window. However, I would trust the collective wisdom here over anything I got third hand, through my friend. Thanks.

Actually I have had that problem with my Submariner 16800 before it got serviced. I believe it was when the power reserve was low. It would change but the date would hang 3/4 of the way ti the correct position. It would jump fully into place if I unscrewed the crown and wound it a little or shaked the watch. I have never had this issue with either of my 16710’s, my 14060m or as I mentioned with my new 126234.

I don't party like before and find myself in bed well before mid night these days 🙁 my watches always display the correct date when is time for my morning coffee around 9 a.m. 😀 is this a sign of no issues?

Isn’t the 14060m a no date?

If it’s recent, I think he’s talking about the Tudor gmt date issue. Have a read on here and TRF....

That’s why I never had a problem with it 😁

Seriously, I must have switched my brain off there ::facepalm1:: again...

the only recently discussed issue with the date change was the Tudor GMT, and awhile back there was the click spring issue in the 3186 during the early releases around the Z serials. was it one of these issues?

I heard of this from a brother collector who told me about a problem others had had with the date change. So I have put the story down as hearsay (not heresy😀) until such time I get it first hand from somebody who owns a “problem” watch. So I don’t know specifics about a particular watch that might have acted up. Read posts on this MB enough, and you get the impression that some folks grouse about infinitesimal “problems” that 99% of people overlook!
