According to this Time and Tide article, there has been a recent (significant) price hike on Rolex models… especially the SS pro models. On average, the prices went up by about 10%, with some going higher by even 12%.

Will likely fuel even more the secondary market craziness… 🙄

Yep, the Daytona went from $13,150 to $14,550 in the US, an increase of 10.7%. And that price is still way under what the market values a new Daytona at.

I remember in the late-70's thru early-80's, when inflation was rockin' and rollin', Rolex would have 2 or 3 significant increases per year. Let's hope we don't get in that situation going forward.

Inevitable this was going to happen
Agree… almost wished Rolex would have pushed the envelope some more to see what happens. Hehe.

Who the F cares? You can’t get one anyways.
You should care, when the most high profile maker in an industry increases their prices it signals to the others to do the same. Don't think the Swatch Group is ignoring what Rolex has done. Increases are coming across the industry.

We’ve seen at least a 10-12% raise in the cost of living across the board over the last 2 years (yet not a 10-12% raise in salaries for the middle class…hmmm) this is no surprise. I’ll stand back and watch people wring their hands and sign up for wait lists- as said by a few others, not high on my priority list.

Anybody who thinks Rolex raising prices 10% is controlling the economics of other companies is a fool. Rolex is raising prices 10% because inflation is 5-10%. Every company on the planet is raising prices on nearly everything.

Fair enough and not debating any of the points you make, but I am still going to go on a whim and speculate that their price increases are not just to reflect inflation, but rather to account for the high demand (and high prices on secondary markets). Indeed, I would further assume that the increase linked to the general inflation is probably around 3%, which is what you see in less popular models, and that the “hot models” saw an additional 7-9% increase just because they can (and should?).

Whether that will impact the rest of the industry, or not, is anybody’s guess.

There is no doubt that Rolex has had designs on moving their image upstream- the position they gave Tudor in the market speaks directly to that (Tudor literally replaced Rolex in particular price points for certain sport models). The unfortunate consequence is that they are alienating a large section of their dedicated fan base by pricing them (us) out. They won’t hurt for customers as the flex culture is money rich, but for those who were of modest means, that have enjoyed their products for decades, they are leaving a bitter taste.

Don't be picky.

Tudor models went up a paltry +/-5% as of January 1st, not some fancy-shmancy 10-12%. Such a deal!

So the new class of "collectors" are mostly flippers. Young tech/engineers in my team are very resourceful in landing hype pieces. These punks (not jealous at all) wear a new Rolex/Patek/AP every 2 weeks. Every time a Rolex changes hand, it goes up a few hundred bucks. I believe a white, steel Daytona is now touching $43,000. That same watch gets sold 2-3 times a month, that's just within my company.

Aint' nobody holding a GMT for 20 years like you J.
So a 10% price increase don't mean anything at all.
If anything, a price increase signals challenging production. HARDER TO OPTAIN.
Get with the time J and flip your GMT. I'll PayPal you now.

Surprised they didn't raise them more. They could double the price and I doubt I could still get at SS sport watch at retail.

How do you keep these working? do you service them yourself?
