Rolex 16800 Matte Dial - Looking for Advice

Hey OF,

Thinking about taking the jump into a matte dial vintage Rolex. This watch has been posted for sometime. Seller is asking $9k right now (I haven't even reached out to negotiate). I really like the look of the navy bezel and the faded dial. I've never ventured into Rolex this vintage (esp. matte dial). Any thoughts, opinions or insights I may be overlooking would be greatly appreciated. Also, I'm never really good at telling if a case has been overpolished or not so I could use some help there as well. Thanks!

Love the bezel colour! This watch has a character... The case is quite polished (not sharp I would say), but not overpolished - the lugs are not too thin and there still some metal around the lug holes.

Well nevermind, just reached out and seller says the watch has been traded. Hadn't updated his listing. 🙁

I also have a 16800 matte with a super faded insert which gets a lot of wear. One of my favourite watches.

It is very important to get a complete set of pics in order to make an assessment.

Love it with or without cyclops
Kinda do as well. Makes the watch seem more balanced.

Don’t mind it without. Really just looks like a sea dweller.

it’s not possible to see if it is polished from the pictures. Vintage watches are never « sharp » if they have been worn. Actually if feels like it might be unpolished.
