Now withdrawn - I decided that I couldn’t part with it.
Hi all,
I have for sale my Rolex 1665 'Great White' Seadweller in excellent condition for its age.
It is the Mark 4 version and is all original including the 'unique' Mk4 fat font bezel insert with the 'wide'4' digit.
The 6.7m serial number indicates 1981 manufacture.
It has the very sought after (and these days hugely expensive) T39 'Superdome' crystal, which makes it look quite spectacular.
This watch is a truly excellent example of these iconic watches, extremely difficult to find in this unmolested condition.
The dial and hands are in super condition with an even matching patina and unmarked plots. All dial script is in top condition.
The case is in great condition - a few marks here and there as to be expected from a non safe-queen watch, but nothing significant.
The caseback inscriptions remain sharp and well defined.
Whilst it is impossible to know whether a 40+ year old vintage watch has seen a polishing wheel, I would suggest that from the case edges, lugs etc. that this watch may well be just 'cuff-polished'.
Comes mounted on a minimum stretch 93150 bracelet with 12 links (good for my 8” wrist), this is complete with flip lock clasp and divers extension.
It comes with box, but unfortunately no papers.
This is an excellent choice as a daily wearer, with substantial investment potential.
No 'formal' service history, however the watch was checked over in rotation with other watches in my collection some 2 years ago.
All functions operate correctly, winds, sets and runs very well - good timekeeping and power reserve.
As far as pricing is concerned, it is difficult to find comparable watches.
I’ve tried checking prices on various sites but there are very few being offered in this condition and originality (many with service replacement dials, hands, bezels etc) with the best original ones attracting substantial premiums.
I’d like to see UK£17k to include insured delivery world wide.
Please check out the photos as they are a major part of the description.
Do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or additional pics.
Thanks for looking.
