Wasn’t really my type of music but I had great respect for what he did. You don’t developed a following like that without talent on loan. Personality wise he was a tremendous being. Let alone his extra curricular activities. None of us are immune to bad news. Peace Ozzy you were cool.
Man, I knew it was coming but this hurts. I played the original two albums with Randy Rhoads constantly as a teenager. Some of the first serious guitar songs I learned were from those albums. I'll have to pull out the bootlegged recordings from that first tour...
I didn't realize the farewell concert was for charity - looks to be the biggest charity concert ever. About $190 million, mostly for children's hospitals.
I walked into the hospital today and to their credit they hire musicians to play in certain areas. Usually calm soothing stuff but I knew they guy playin at the entrance. He was doing a very tame acoustic “mama I’m coming home” I walked over to talk briefly he was bummed about ozzy passing he reminded me of the time Bob Dylan and ozzy were making fun of each others hair during a drug binge and Dylan used a clothes iron to straighten Ozzie’s hair more. Damn imagine all the crazy shit we don’t know about. Classic.
RIP Ozzy. I saw him in concert twice. Both times in Fairbanks, Alaska. We used to get amazing concerts here in the day. Wore out his cassette tapes from playing them so much. He will be missed.
I grew up on Black Sabbath as a kid and thought Ozzy was a hilarious character, but is it true he had a medically assisted suicide?
One thing's for sure, the "Prince of Darkness" is surely a believer now.
