Wait, I thought he died in the Mega Lo Mart explosion. RIP regardless.
No, he had signed a contract with Mega Lo Mart that made it impossible to do anything but attend Mega Lo Mart openings. So, he was seceretly living in the Arlen Mega Lo Mart while hiding from his contractual obligations to Mega Lo Mart.

Saw Chuck live many years ago in a small venue. He was excellent, very gracious. At one point, he saw a fan checking out his instrument, and he handed it to him without reservation. A class act.

I saw him at a jazz fest a while back. Got me reading into him and how influential he was in the Montreal Olympics. Something I never knew. He was on in years but could still play with the best of them. RIP another great talent lost this year.

I agree wholeheartedly. Chuck deserved more credit for his impeccable playing. Many jazz players were jealous of his commercial success.
