hi guys Saw this on eBay..... https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.com/ulk/itm/232697261568 Chuck been looking for one for a long time ( Jeff stein pointed one out to chuck and got it years ago). Back story was he had one in high school.....dad gave it to him. He lost it when he was in gym class... taken. Good Hunting Bill
Very cool. I may just have found a reason to get my youngest a watch (not this one). He is majoring in Mathematics (as well as Engineering Physics). Can he can use this to do his homework?
No. Slide rules are analogue. Todays courses, exams & answers are expected to be done with digital technology. answers will not match perfectly if using a slide rule. It is good to learn how to use a slide rule though, I'm guessing they appeal to people like me/us, who like mechanical watches. Slide rules can still provide quick estimates in the field.
If my dad would have given me a mechanical watch with a slide rule back when I was studying to be an engineer, it would have been *such* a cool present. Go for it. (As it happens, he gave me his vintage PloProf that he actually used for diving instead. I’ll cherish it forever).
