    Yes

It’s a slide rule and pie is a number you need to do calc’s with circles.

Very cool. I may just have found a reason to get my youngest a watch (not this one). He is majoring in Mathematics (as well as Engineering Physics). Can he can use this to do his homework?

    No.
Slide rules are analogue. Todays courses, exams & answers are expected to be done with digital technology. answers will not match perfectly if using a slide rule. It is good to learn how to use a slide rule though, I'm guessing they appeal to people like me/us, who like mechanical watches.

Slide rules can still provide quick estimates in the field.

Interesting now that I really look at it.

Telemeter, percentage of time, and a slide rule.

Does that make it a pre-Holy Grail grail?

If my dad would have given me a mechanical watch with a slide rule back when I was studying to be an engineer, it would have been *such* a cool present. Go for it.

(As it happens, he gave me his vintage PloProf that he actually used for diving instead. I’ll cherish it forever).
