By watching YouTube and buying spare parts I've fixed many household items. Only last weekend I replaced the heating element on my tumble dryer...saving ££ and some landfill space. Repairing my coffee machine is another good example. It has lasted >15 years through YouTube and the internet...most parts have been replaced.
Interestingly, I recently had a Seiko Samurai that had something wrong with the balance. I sent it back to Seiko who had no interest in repairing the movement. Cheaper/easier to replace it with a brand new movement.
Ironically, it was a 'Save the Ocean' edition.
It would be good if Omega parts were more accessible, but I guess they bought in restrictions to protect their brand. Also, I'm not sure how many Omega watches end up in landfill...but I support the ethos of repairing rather than throw-away!
