Is the watch that small, or is the crown that big?

Best thing is to discover a decent dial under a crappy crystal!

Hi all
I´m surprised so many revuemania and vulcainmania... 😀 , In did for me they are good brands with good calibers, so I will join a few photos with Revue´s first cricket with alarm, and second the MSR caliber T44 with back skeleton, and my blue Vulcain front and back.
Note - Vulcain and Revue back skeleton have same caliber the only difference is the crown of revue it is located more at two of clock position than normal three of clock position.
Good brands with good people!

Just picked up this awesome guy 😀

34mm ex crown. And original strap! Could it be original buckle as well? Maybe @Tony C. knows that.

Beautiful watch, and I like the inscription very much as well! Not sure about the originality of the buckle, but it certainly could be, and has a nice, period-correct look.

This watch is close to NOS and just got a service to ensure smooth performance. It featured a calibre T46 that can only be described as a solid workhorse! The cap jewel has a slot making it possible to oil with shock jewels in place. It works a treat...

Let me guess. That one WAS a self-winder, but the watch has been stripped of all the automatic winding components!

It was sold new as a manual wind, but it has the hardware in place to fit the autowinder (would not work in that case tough).

Sold as a manual winder, but was originally designed as an automatic? Now THAT I have never seen! You are saying the watch was also available as an automatic, but that if the automatic winding parts were added to the subject watch, the watch would not work? Pray tell, why?

I'm not sure what you mean, it's quite normal to get manual wind versions of movements designed to be automatics. Omega cal 1030 is a manual version of cal 1000.
Only difference with this T43 movement and the automatic T53 is it has a hooked mainspring and no auto mechanism. Some other variants have nicer bridges without the machining to accommodate the autowinder bridge. Cost saving measure in tough times.

This image of a Revue T46 from the Ranfft archive bears only a faint resemblance to the watch you are calling a T46.

http://www.ranfft.de/cgi-bin/bidfun-db.cgi?10&ranfft&2&2uswk&MSR_T46

The one in your post has the train bridge milled to accommodate the auto wind works. The Ranfft image isn’t milled. The one in your post has the milled steady pin to accommodate the auto winding. The Ranfft image isn’t milled there. Yours shows the modified barrel bridge, and the jewel for the lower pivot of the final auto wind drive gear. The one in the Ranfft image has a different barrel bridge, and no accommodation for the lower pivot of the final drive gear in the auto wind mechanism. I can see what you meant when you said the watch wouldn’t work f you added the auto wnd system. That seems to be because it totally wouldn’t accommodate the auto wind system, period.
