路Hi all,
I have a likely-vintage Omega Chronometre that came through my office today at an estate sale company. I'm hoping you all can help me identify, appraise, and date it. Is it possibly gold?
Sadly, I can't provide much information about its origin -- it was from an estate in northern Illinois, USA, and we're likely going to sell it. I don't know how long we've had it or how long the original owner had it, when it was last serviced, or anything else, really.
Basically, I know it's an "Omega Chronometre". That's it. Does anyone know a model number, or maybe other information? Manufacture year, etc? Anything else relevant that I could Google up?
Are there any egregious flaws that watch collectors look for that I might have overlooked? I see the wear on the face and the typical scuffs in the metal, etc. Is there anything else notable? It seems to wind just fine, and it still ticks when I gently squeeze it and hold it upside down -- but it's not functioning as-intended.
Do I need to open the case to identify it further? I tried (oh, how I tried) to get it open -- my search results actually led me to this forum, where everyone says to take it to a real watch repair place (and not the kiosk at the mall), and also not to jam a screwdriver in it. I'll note that you guys almost certainly prevented me from scraping it up -- so whether or not I get it opened, it won't be scraped up (any more than it is already).
Thanks for your help in advance.
