Requesting assessment of potential purchase: Omega Genève, Ref. 14702SC61

Hello,

I'm considering purchasing my first vintage watch for my upcoming wedding. I've been doing a bit of research (mostly thanks to this site!) but I still feel under-prepared to properly assess what would be a pretty significant purchase for me. With that said, this Geneve has caught my eye and I'm hoping the more experienced members here might answer a few questions.

1. Does this look to be all original or are there obviously replaced parts?
2. Are there any other red flags that stand out? Is the lack of a movement photo concerning?
3. The watch is listed at $1900. Here is the listing: https://dumarko.com/collections/ome...d-watch-ref-bk14724-1-sc-swiss-made-from-1960. Is that a fair value?
4. Any other pointers you might provide concerning this watch (or vintage Omegas in general)?

Thanks,
Dan

There has been some noticeable polishing. The brightness of the photos hides details.

How do you see it?

Of course it’s caught your eye - it’s great as eye candy - but ….

As @arturo7 points out, it’s polished, and prepped for sale. but …

At $1900, it’s outrageously priced - when all's said and done, if you take a bit more time looking, you can find almost any number of Constellations and Seamasters at much cheaper prices, or actual gold cased models in a similar price ballpark, with the same movement or chronometer standard movements.

Thank you. That's really helpful!

I seem to be drawn to dials with no date window. Are there any desirable references of Constellations and Seamasters with no date window that you'd recommend I keep an eye out for?

I don’t know enough about Connie’s but if you search for Seamaster cal 552.

Examples are 165.010 & 165.002 or
165.003 but there are others.

165 means no date, similarly 135.

My initial search would be on eBay and Chrono24

The watch is legit, and in reasonable condition. The asking price is 2x - 3x market value, IMO.

The last time I had a gold plated geneve, I sold it for a third of this price, though the condition wasn't quite as good. If you're interested in a good quality first generation Omega Geneve, I will soon be selling a Steel cased version for about half this price. DM if interested.
