Replacement Hands on this 2577?

Hello all,

I'm looking at getting a 50s seamaster, but I'm a bit new to the game and was wondering if anyone could advise on the following watch. The case condition looks good with crisp chamfers and the dial correct, BUT as far as I understand lume on the dial markers means there should also be lume on the hands?

Any other problems you see?

Thanks omega experts!

Welcome aboard!

Well spotted - the hands are incorrect and looking closely at the picture I’d guess the second hand is too long and the picture was manipulated so that the tip of it, protruding the minute ticks, doesn’t show that much. Pretty cheeky - I’d avoid the seller altogether.

The crown is also incorrect, that’s a minor issue though, at least in my book and if the price is right.

There also seems to be no gasket.

The minute hand is a touch too long as well. I think you will find it tough to find a correct set of lumed hands. Better count on liking it as is if you do buy.

This is my 1950 2577-4. I think it has the original hands although they’re no longer luminous. The minute hand seems to me to be the same length as the one you’ve posted in your second photo although in your first photo it seems marginally longer.

I could live with your watch but obviously price is relevant.
