·Hi all,
I'm still pretty new to vintage watches and come to you seeking advice. I was lucky to spot a bit of the back case in this jar from the thrift store. Inside I found what I believe is a Seamaster reference 166.090 (a decent Wittnauer as well, amongst the other junk). Initially I didn't think the watch was my style and had planned on selling it, but over the last two weeks of it sitting on my desk, it's grown on me.
As pictured, it's got some patina, scratches to the crystal, and I can't get it running. I'm a fan of the wear and patina, but wouldn't mind the crystal to be a bit clearer. I'm thinking a service, maybe a crystal polish, and that's it? I'm unsure what the blue/green spot is.
I'm looking for any advice on that, as well as any recommendation for a place to get the service done in the southeast, or to mail away. I'm in Columbia, SC, and wouldn't mind driving to Atlanta or in the 3 hour range, and actually being able to talk to someone in person about it. Thanks in advance! I've already learned a lot reading through the forums and am eager to learn more.
