I would like aN opinion on this one. It looks good to me and although a gp and not an oversize, the price is good. It has a recently serviced squeaky clean movement ...

    Thoughts ?

Dial looks great (but isn't that a 50s replacement on a 40s watch that we been discussing, serial number looks like 40s to me but it is not clear). And red chrono hands ;p, there is really quite a tendency to paint it red

I'm not sure I understand the problem with the red chrono hand? Is it only found in the later versions of the tri-compax?

It should have been blue, but many times somehow they get painted red. I think the only correct red chrono hands are found on datocompax which are quite rare (and frankly I don't really know much about them)

Edit: red chrono hand comments cover the early 50s and before that.

So the OPs model shouldn't have any red hands?

Not that I know of, but if any one has evidence to dispute that feel free to come forward.

The red hand is probably a replacement from a later UG.
Dial looks good. I dont like the battons though. could be a 50's but again a good original UG dial. Note, lack of red as tachy quarter as found on other 50's dials.

Need an expert to take a peek ...

Jordn and bubawatch where are you guys?

Another mid 40's Tricomp with one of these dials (I'm not sure we'll ever be sure when these were first used. I'm guessing the late 40's, but it's possible they were first used in the early 50's). More examples of these I see, more I am convinced that these are dials that have been found more recently and used as replacements. The condition of these dials do not ever commiserate with the overall condition of the watches.

Repainted hand for sure. Incorrect profile (shape), uneven paint around the tube hole, and it's possible to make out some of the blue on the tear drop end. Here is a correct red hand from @cristos71's sales thread.

Man, I didn't even see that at first. Now that I see it, it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Yup, not quite a franken but a Jeckyl and Hyde ...

This is the third example in less than a year! In my ultra critical view, the more I see of these half decent deconstructed and reconstructed UG's, the less attractive they become. Nice, but not my cup of tea!

I shall pass and make it available to the community should anyone fancy it. Price is UKP2K if anyone is interested.

ps: I could do with that chrono hand for my 881011/01!
