Recs for “Under the radar” piece for travel

Whenever I travel I always ( well...almost always...) bring a G-Shock, my apple watch, and a "something mechanical". Particularly if I'm changing time zones, I'll pop the mechanical watch on wrist as soon as I'm settled in the airplane seat and immediatley set the time for my destination. Don't know why, but that little trick really helps.

I completely agree with the Seiko recommendations for the something mechanical. I like my SKX007 on a nato. Easy and fun to pack a few straps. I've also brought my Doxa 300 - the ratchet clasp on a BofR bracelet really works well for airline trips or lounging.

However, I don't know that I"d worry about wearing my seamaster. I don't get a whole lotta looks at it. I've brought my speedmaster along loads of times, but not so much any more, as I really do prefer more WR.

I've been thinking of adding a blue Seamaster 300 Heritage to my collection. Part of my thinking is that it might fly beneath the radar a bit and be super verstatile / beautiful. ???

As others have said there are a lot of options that don't scream 'expensive'. Maybe pick up something that can show multiple time zones and is pretty durable like a g-shock. I think it also depends on the location - I couldn't see you having much of an issue with an Omega in the airport so I guess it's more when you are out and about. Obviously as well clothing will be factor because your sleeve may well cover the watch anyway.

Nomos Ahoi, 200 meter water resistance, under stated, and doubles as a dress watch when meeting with lawyers or bankers

I was going to suggest X-33, but it doesn’t have great water resistance. Other than that, I highly recommend it.

I wear a titanium Gshock. Looks like a cheap rubber one so no one has a clue of its value. It's a genuinely great watch.

very hard to beat this value proposition (http://wrwatches.com), no affiliation to me.

Nato strap your Omega. Where it Under the wrist. Or under the cuff. Stay vigilant and alert.

I just parted with my Skx007j, may need to get another. That would be my suggestion. Low key and replaceable

Spent two weeks traveling with this and still another week left. Solid build quality and great functionality. No comments or looks or anyone caring a lick about it.

Out of all the watches I own, I generally go for this one if I'm going somewhere that I think warrants concern:
Great size at 37mm, no bracelet possible to avoid extra bling factor, and just a great all around watch.

My SMP or the SM300MC would always be my travel watch. I travel with it most of the time. It's already very subtle and not exactly attention grabbing.

@dsio @Archer
Ikepod have some NOS available as we speak
As per the pic below
Currency is set to AUD
Yea that’s a bit nuts lol, I like the Seaslug around the $2-3k mark on bracelet, for that money its great value for the design and quality you’re getting, but the crazy stuff doesn’t appeal to me.

Am traveling now, last week and this week. For trans-Atlantic duty I chose the '53 36mm Omega Geneve obtained from our own Ollie-On-The-Rocks, backed up by the Favre Leuba Sea Bird for spare and alarm duties.

The '44 vintage Omega Jumbo is tagging along in case opportunity allows presentation ar Omega Museum for the order of a factory letter.

Since G-shock was highly covered already ... throw this Citizen Promaster Titanium Tough into the mix.

Squale 1545

I had the “root beer” version. It was a terrific watch and the color was pretty special. IDK why I sold it, but it was early in my watch career and I’d sprung for any number of cool, inexpensive watches. While I may have fallen into the “quantity vs quality” new guy trap, I will say that that Squale was a quality piece.

I picked up a Tissot PRX quartz for exactly this purpose. Accurate, attractive, wears like a dream, cost under 400 with taxes in.

Not my pic:
