I like this one. Have we seen it before, recently? Looks correct. Case bevels look pretty sharp. Reluming is a little on the yellow side, a minor point to me. Service crown, not a biggie. I like the box around 'PHC' on the chrono bridge... I associate this feature with early production runs, though I can't remember exactly where I've seen it... on a LouS EP, I think.
It was and still is listed on chrono24.

Seller is not my favorite. He has a history of frankenizing El Primeros - change in movement to a modern El Primero, etc - although he has sold some proper ones as well.

The dial, hands and case are proper, although not sure why he had to relume with margarine. The inner caseback is like none other I've seen for an El Primero. It is missing its Spillman number, in this case SP 1301. Correct example below. Perlage is the rule, but there are exceptions, and MZ logo interchangeable with "Zenith" depending on date of manudfacture.

If one of you guys can get the number off of the outside caseback from him, I can check it against the serial number charts I keep, but my prediction is it will be out of series for an A 385.

In sum, fine for a daily wearer but not without reproach, and another piece of shifty work for friendly-aabayer. Near what I'd pay for it now (USD2000), not worth more than USD2500.

Movado Datachron is the best value Primero out there - the same great movement as the Zeniths at one third the price - this one won't break $2000, and may even end closer to $1000 than $2000. It looks totally correct with the possible exception of the crown, and with a pretty rare robin's egg blue dial. And from a unanimously favored forum seller too. Worth keeping an eye on.

And every once in a while you'll even find a 31-jewel Datron... presumably for the Euro-Snobs who care about extra jewels... not us Americans though... 17J is plenty for us. 😉

because it's not available in the US. Try the link on Ebay.de http://www.ebay.de/itm/321067047662...cat=0&_nkw=321067047662&_rdc=1#ht_2176wt_1199

I don't know what that is. I think it is actually a later model, after the classic C-case Datrons. Note the TV-shape, echoed in the shape of the subdials. Lotta gold, even though it's hollow, but not enough to justify those prices.

Cool reference but... Wonky hands. Wrong bracelet. Should look like this:

It looks like he's actually got two bracelets included in the sale, later pictures show both the mesh as well as a segmented link bracelet, but even that one isn't the bracelet pictured above
