Very interesting, those Cal 135s pop up far less than I'd expect on eBay

Probably ought to air a conversation a few of us having been having on the side after the last sale about dial font. At issue is the different "M" in "chronometre" - one is straight legged and the other splay-legged. Normal variant (in a relatively small run of watches), redial or another explanation?

I was surprised at the price as well but glad I was able to snag it!

Outstanding! Can't recall ever seeing a Datron in that configuration before. I eagerly await the thread once you've received it.

Well played! Forgot to load a snipe on that one. Glad I didn't gouge you... or vice versa. :)

This might be the sweetest platinum watch there is under $10k (we can't all be as lucky as John Chris :)):

Is it a modern or vintage? And is the movement in-house?

Oh wow. Gotta say, that's pretty impressive. I wasn't even aware that Zenith had Platinum models.

I assure you that for every steal I've managed to stumble upon (as I did with this model), I can boast at least two purchases that qualify as complete burn-jobs!!!

This is a low production chronometre ("Chronomaster") version of the Elite HW cal. 655 reserve-de-marche, produced from '96 to '00 or so. It is distinguished from the regular version by a step-sided case in precious metal, applied Breguet numerals (and as Lou has said, an overall whiff of Breguet in dial design), and elegant shaped hands. The Elite movement is indeed in-house - the first mechanical movement developed by Zenith since the bad-old days when it ceased mechanical development on the orders of then-owner Zenith Radio Corporation. From that time (1975) until the Elite was developed (it debuted in 1994), Zenith had only the El Primero to offer by way of mechanical movements.

I guess you have to say modern - 90's, I think. Totally in-house.

    Now here's an interesting watch:

This seller has "sold" this watch 3 times to my knowledge. This might account for his 1 negative and 1 neutral feedback scores and his claim of re-listing due to non-payment. Each time, it has "sold" in the region of £600 to £650 but it is not listed as non-working which might be implied by the feedback. I reckon that £400 would be a fair price depending on why it isn't working. Most, if not all, of the parts are still available for it so it is definitely a possibility. At the end of the day it is a gold Zenith chronometre.

Looks like seller is asking $2500 for this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/130851233253Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network

A low price for this in-house triple calendar/moon phase/automatic chronograph descendant of the Espada/Astronic (if you don't mind the Italian version). The low asking price and "email us" instructions are a bit sketchy, but worth investigating.

What size is that - 40 mm? And what exactly is a "vintage condition" dial?

I think those are 38-39mm. Dial looks OK to me... maybe he means "vintage" like Chateau Lafite '82. :)

This is the sixth time someone has listed this same watch and pictures with a contact me at a gmail or hotmail account outside eBay with a low buy it now price. The same watch was posted yesterday on a different seller's account before I reported it to eBay. I took a screen shot of the time before and when you contact them they want all of your Paypal info to start the buy it now process. The scary part is these are legitimate sellers that they are listing these items under. I saw over 125 high end items ranging from jewelry, electronics, to bikes listed all on the same day with the same buy it now info for $2,000 that were removed from one seller.
