It goes without saying that care needs to be exercised in bidding on such a limited edition watch that has such blurry pics and a zero starting price. Possible bargain or possible disaster... More pics are definitely needed.

By the way, these watches came on either a leather strap or a matching 18 k gold bracelet. The bracelet on this example is not gold, it is a standard bracelet from 1999/2000. The insurance valuation he shows from 2008 was either overoptimistic or was pricing in a gold bracelet that is no longer present - or both.

EDIT - actually his valuation says the bracelet is a 1498, which wasn't used after 1998. This watch was first released in 2000. And the clasp on the bracelet he pictures is not the clasp for a 1498, its a style that was phased out around 2000 or so. So there is no way the bracelet is original to the watch and the bracelet may not even be complete, assuming its the same one from the valuation. Also, doesn't he have a more recent valuation ? Lots of questions on this one to be answered before gambling with a big chunk of money.

Assume it is only the head (the bracelet has been melted), what would be the value? I guess it is still at least an USD 8,000 watch.

Sounds about right to me.

As ever it eventually comes down to what someone will pay, as there aren't exactly a lot of these around.

I'm not an expert on modern Omegas but I spotted this beauty on the bay.

Should I put in an offer or just bid normally 🙄

Somehow people are not too attracted to Aqua Terra chronograph, unlike PO or SMP. I maybe wrong.
If it is your cup of tea, there is no harm to send an offer to the seller. See what is his reaction. I wouldn't put an offer to much above the starting bid.

I would just go with the starting bid as the watch does not impress me, dial is rather busy looking. You have to decide what it means to you.

Yes.....I think that's it. The strength of Aqua Terra line is its simplicity, that's why many people use it as dressy watch. Their chrono should be simple (probably 2 rather than 3 subdial) and must blend well with its already busy teak dial.

What i can tell you is that it is not a Patek as listed in the description! If thats what you call a description!

I believe they're trying to say the movement is the same as used in some Pateks.

A description is used to sell the item and it bugs me that people don't or cannot be bothered to even describe it and they expect a tonne of bids!

This seller is legit, I can recommend him because I just buy a Speedy with him. So if someone wants new Speedmaster Racing at good price, this is it.

Yep - i met him - totally legit! Nice guy!

AND IT SAYS IT CANNOT SHIP TO THE U.S.
I don't think that's a problem for the large number of members who are not in the US who might be interested in it.
