·It goes without saying that care needs to be exercised in bidding on such a limited edition watch that has such blurry pics and a zero starting price. Possible bargain or possible disaster... More pics are definitely needed.
By the way, these watches came on either a leather strap or a matching 18 k gold bracelet. The bracelet on this example is not gold, it is a standard bracelet from 1999/2000. The insurance valuation he shows from 2008 was either overoptimistic or was pricing in a gold bracelet that is no longer present - or both.
EDIT - actually his valuation says the bracelet is a 1498, which wasn't used after 1998. This watch was first released in 2000. And the clasp on the bracelet he pictures is not the clasp for a 1498, its a style that was phased out around 2000 or so. So there is no way the bracelet is original to the watch and the bracelet may not even be complete, assuming its the same one from the valuation. Also, doesn't he have a more recent valuation ? Lots of questions on this one to be answered before gambling with a big chunk of money.
Assume it is only the head (the bracelet has been melted), what would be the value? I guess it is still at least an USD 8,000 watch.
