No reason to stay focused, friend. Live a little. Act on impulse. You don't need to be zeroed in on every plum Zenith that comes to market. 馃槈

Don't fall for this Gavin! Marc probably has spotted a trophy and wants to eliminate the competition by draining their reserves! 馃槣

Not hearing anything. Have to stay focused. Have to stay focused.

The dial condition killed any temptation.
By the way, did Marc say anything?馃榿

Not sure of the procedure , there is a re-dialer in Ohio (I think Ohio) That has all (most) of the old Hamilton dies and specs. You'd have to check with the Vintagewatch forum guys.

I continue to beat the lifeless equine - My understanding is that an enamel dial has the pigment baked in. So why would it deteriorate at all, much less enough to require a redial? Cracking and chipping, sure, but redial? Can you show a Hamilton example?

Sorry to be tiresome.

It is generally the script that holds up best . The base coat seems to discolor, pit, stain and flake. Perhaps the base is a different material. Really need to ask the folks like Sean or others on the Vintage Watch Forum, who know about these things. I don't know if any of them will even notice this thread.
Don't worry about horse beating, if not that, Dennis would probably hijack the thread anyway.馃槣

Glad you're beating it, for I too am ignorant. For example, I want so much for this...

...to be authentic, but more than one of the Longinerati have already called redial... perhaps for reasons other than condition.

I call foul. I know fabsuisse/Greg gets good copy on this site, but that's a pretty misleading set of photographs. Listing clearly says 'yellow gold' but would you fault anyone for thinking it was pink gold?

I recently bought a polerouter from him - just as pink in the listing. If it arrives and turns out to be yellow gold, I ain't gonna be happy.....

I think that is pink gold.

While it is a correct 902x model, it's a little dull on the lugs and bezel. Nice dial though. I'd expect $1650-ish, maybe up to $1900 if a little bidding war ensues.

So you got that polerouter? Looking forward to the pics. I am with you on the color tone in his pics though.

Another pink gold longines described as yellow gold in the text.

White balance!

That might be a pink gold dial in a yellow gold case. Those rope chapter ring Flagships usually came in automatic - the in-house 34x or Cyma based 380 (case reference 1503). Seeing it with a 30 series manual wind is an infrequent sight. Looks like the correct crown for a caliber 30L too. Worth keeping an eye on.

Isn't that necessarily a franken?

Not necessarily. 1958 and 1959 were transition years for Longines and a LOT of strange combinations came from the factory. You own one - that date at 12 Conquest caliber 291 with the old styling instead of the gold dial like mine.
