What I meant was that it's not the original enamel. If you look closer at the pictures you can see that it is smeared over the stars - just zoom in (just my 2 cents opinion)

Sharp eyes! 😲

You might very well be right. The paint is rough around the edges too.

I think that the case back should look like this (zoom in and compare with the image above):

What caught my attention was the light blue on the wave.

There should be some light blue inside that small area of the water.

Here's one for the Conquest fans in the audience:

Needs a crown, but otherwise looks good. I just bought another Longines from this seller (unveiling to happen soon) and he is open to reasonable offers.

Take care,

The asking price isn't out of the ballpark to begin with, so if the seller is fair they'll sell it for a non-lowball price.

I am new to these watches, but by reading the previous discussion about the enameled backs, this one does not look 100% correct.

What do you think is wrong with it? Not trying to defend, but I'd like to learn something here.

Well, it becomes fuzzy when the pic is magnified, but it looks like the enamel is also smeared over the stars here. I also don't see any light blue paint under the left side of the upprtmost wave. Again, I am far from being an expert and I am just a beginner. I just followed the discussion on the previous conquest here and trying to learn from that. Of course I will defer to more expert opinions.

I too am no expert when it comes to these. I think the darkness on the stars is more of a shadow from the camera, more likely the stars are a bit worn down. This is not a mint condition watch.

I see a small chip in the enamel (to me, this is a sign of originality) between the "L" in Longines and the "A" in Automatic.

There is something where the light blue paint is supposed to be. The picture is just too dark to make out what it is.

Dennis can provide more insight on this, since he owns an identical watch in almost perfect condition.

If you are considering purchasing the watch, write to the seller. He will answer your questions.

It looks original to me. If the seller had the enamel redone, he would've got the light blue in the waves done too.

Ok. You guys convinced me 😀. I am still learning omegas, and now there is a new challenge. As far as this watch, I will not bid. I want my first vintage Longines to be close to mint. I will keep an eye out for your recommendations.
Thanx

Here is another Conquest 291 in steel for sale. Other than the medallion on the backcase, what do you think?

I think the price is a couple hundred too high.

very good / excellent Wittnauer (2) reg professional chrono. One of the nicest bezels I've seen for this reference. I collect these and I promise you they don't normally look this sharp. The case looks like it's only had (1) or (2) light polishes in her life.

Personally, I can't afford to make watch collecting a full time job. if I weren't knee deep in projects, I'd grab this one myself. I'm thinking if you reach out to the seller and offer him 850/900, he might kill the auction. I've dealt with this seller and he's a fair guy. At that price, you'll never get hurt (IMHO). You'll need to source a new crown to make this watch mint but that shouldn't be too difficult.

btw - this watch looks smoking on the wrist (if you can pull off red lolzzzzzzz)

Almost all of the ones I have seen looked like this:
227-large.jpg So is this just a different variation?
