Ok here's a potential good deal, but it always causes me to pause when I see a "good deal" from someone whom primarily sells watches and watch parts. But it looks like the majority of his business is pocket watch movements, so maybe? IDK the last time I saw a mechanical chronograph that wasn't one of the super cheap movements for anything around this price: $70

I'm honestly tempted to get it, but I've spent too much on watches recently for my meager budget - especially when this will need work.

looks like it is missing sub dial hand and description is basically that it is not running. Not sure it is worth the project in the end but that is just me.

Good detective work 馃榾
Thanks! I was really curious because I found it quite attractive. I can't tell if it has a wrong crown(?) but it's just a tad too small for me anyways.

Yep, exactly. Which is why I'm not buying it. But if you can work on it yourself?

This has a Lapanouse movement, or a pin pallet chronograph. Kind of like those Cimier timers.

I'll leave the decision to you on that note. 馃檮

hahahahahahahaha. I bet he raised his price after seeing his "view count" shoot up.
Yup! Or somone asked a question (like about the size) so immediately wants to cash in on the interest. These are the assholes I won't buy from even if he dropped it back to $5

Cheap diver. But prob only cheap 1 jewel movement and chrome case but it has got an expensive skin diver look

I suppose during the period using a cheap one jewel movement had advantages.
Should the watch develop a leak ordering up a drop in replacement movement would be cheaper than having a more expensive movement serviced, especially if moisture had corroded vital parts that required replacement.
Long term accuracy, in terms of seconds per day, would be less important since dive times would be unlikely to exceed one hour.
Probably cheap enough to be disposable at the first sign of running slow or stopping.

When the WW2 era rebreather was still in common use diving below 50 feet was chancy. Scuba tanks greatly extended depth and duration of dives.

I beleive these cheaper skin divers were just to give the impression of an adventurous life- they weren't actually meant for real water-sports, although they were waterproof. But if you wanted to look like a deep sea diver while sitting on the beach, these were perfect.

More of a swimmers watch than a divers watch.

I think so, but your previous analysis is still probably right. An interesting take.
